Multi-generational living
Walden
Facing rapidly rising real estate costs in the Boston area, a middle-aged couple, their architectural grad-student daughter, and her spouse purchased this two family home with a plan to renovate. The Aurora team removed a central chimney and reinforced the structure to open living spaces in both the upper and lower units. Expanded windows on the rebuilt front porch and sunroom, as well as a top-floor skylight, invite light into formerly dark spaces. Identical kitchen layouts yielded efficiencies while allowing each couple to choose finishes that suit their style.
